We’ve been around a while.

The Edinburgh University Hillwalking Club grew out of the Edinburgh Rambling Club, a society which was started in 1978 by Rosie Mann. In 1986, the society was renamed to become the Hillwalking Club and became a member club of the Edinburgh University Sports Union. Since then, it has been an exceptionally popular club; from its inception to today, trips were in high demand, quickly filled and greatly enjoyed!

Below we’ve included some resources for past members of the club, or for people interested in learning a bit about the club’s history.

We also run an annual trip especially for our alumni, where past members of the club get priority sign-up. See our trips list for more information on the alumni weekend.

Alumni-related inquiries can be directed to our current Alumni Officer, who should be listed on the Meet the Committee page.

Past Newsletters and Yearbooks

At present, we’re using the Blog page to keep our alumni up-to-date. However, a few older newsletters and yearbooks can be found on the following link.

Mailing List

We have a mailing list! We use it to advertise alumni trips and keep you posted on what we’ve been up to as a club. If you were in the club in years past and would like to stay updated, let the Alumni Officer know at edunihillwalkingalumni@gmail.com!
