Walking Trips, Simplified

We’re trying to take the guesswork out of coming on a trip. On this page you’ll find everything you need to go from completely clueless to fully prepared.

Get Your Membership

The club can only take members on trips, due to EUSU regulations. But membership is easy, affordable, and comes with great perks. You can even buy a half-year membership if you’re on exchange. You can buy SU membership and club membership on the SU website.

Get Your Gear

You can’t just show up in sneakers and a t-shirt to brave the highlands (we are legally required to turn you away if you try). You’ll need some basic kit, and we’ve got a ton of information to help you find what you need. Make sure you read to the bottom, especially for weekends.

Get Going

Sign-up goes live the Tuesday before the trip, online at 8 AM. Trips fill up quickly (sometimes in under a minute!), so make sure you’re ready. More info below. Follow this link to our SU page, where you can find the trip tickets under the ‘Products’ tab.

I’m signed up! Now what?

In the case of either trip, you will get an email from the meet organizer with all the details you need. We’ve included some basic information about how trips work below.

Day Trips

We leave from the Pleasance Gym car park at 6 AM. Be there. We decide on walks in the car park, then split up and drive (~2hrs) to our walks. We walk for 5-8 hours, then get back in the car and drive back. You should be back in time for dinner, so just pack what food you’ll need for the walk!

Weekend Trips

We leave from the Pleasance Gym car park at 3-5PM on Friday night, with a dinner stop depending on driver. We get to the hostel, sign up for walks, and turn in. We wake up early on Saturday, walk, then come back to the hostel for dinner, showers, and a good time. We sign up for walks again on Saturday night, then wake up on Sunday, clean the hostel, walk, and go home.

For weekend trips, make sure you have the items we put at the bottom of the gear list, or you’ll be quite unhappy in the hostel.

And that’s it!

You’re all set up for your trip. We hope you’re as excited as we are. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your Meet Organizer or another member of committee. We’re looking forward to seeing you <3
